There are two types of lenses a videographer Chicago can use with a DSLR camera: prime and zoom. Zoom lenses do just that, you can adjust their focal length to make objects appear larger. Prime lenses don’t zoom. This might seem strange to video newcomers, but I for one prefer using a 50mm prime lens for most of my photography, and switch to a zoom lens only for certain conditions. But that’s just me… I’d love to hear other video production experts reveal their favorite lens in the comment section below.
In today’s episode of Reel Rebel, Stephen Schweickart talks about finding the right lens with a fixed focal length and the folly of trying to use a built-in lens with a so-called 700x zoom.
