My soon-to-be alma mater is doing something very interesting during this year’s graduation ceremonies. Loyola University will be live streaming all of it’s commencement ceremonies. I wrote before about the school’s impressive videographer Chicago presence, but this is going above and beyond.
The trouble with graduation ceremonies, at any academic level, is that a lot of people want to attend them. I can’t imagine why, they’re incredibly boring and often take place in the middle of a heat wave. And yet, grandmas and grandpas get upset when their child is unable to get a ticket for the ceremony. I also know that there are ticket shortages for some of the commencements at Loyola.
Although this kind of video production doesn’t exactly fall into the typical business category we usually cover here, we can call it a service video. After all, Loyola isn’t getting much out of this, except knowing they did a service to people who can’t attend an event they wanted to see.
Next time your business is sponsoring an event and tickets get sold out, consider doing a videographer Chicago live stream. Once ticket sales are handled, showing the event for free online won’t subtract from potential profit but could boost your influence and impressions online.
