The musical group OKGO has earned a reputation online as a reliable source for exciting, viral hit making machine. Like some YouTube users, the site has earned some money from their efforts, earnings their manager compares to “finding change on the street.” They’re not the only ones. According to the New York Times, regular folks are making thousands of dollars from YouTube because their videos of cute animals or babies were viral hits. But is making money from YouTube a real solution for people who want to make money?
In short, it depends. Making video production content can be easy, and people with very little production or editing experience have done it (and went viral doing it.) However, making even the easiest of YouTube videographer Chicago content requires a bit of savvy, at least a couple hours of work, and some social media promotional efforts. That said, it’s just about impossible to predict whether a video will go viral or if it will just end up lost in the rest of YouTube’s sea of content.
Perhaps the best goal for anyone interested in leveraging the social video site is not to make a ton of cash, but to gain some exposure. Instead of banking on getting millions of views, try to get the right views. Show of your talents, display your value, regardless of what the video’s subject is, just about anything can be captured if shot with care and thought. If you’re lucky, and the right people see your material, you might manage to find someone outside of YouTube willing to give you way more money.
