Mobile video occupies 50 percent of wireless broadband, according to the Cisco Visual Networking Index: Global Mobile Data Traffic Forecast Update, 2011–2016. In fact, by the end of 2011, that figure reached 52 percent. Cisco even predicts that video will comprise 71 percent of all mobile traffic by 2016.
The implications of this study are two-fold. For one, we can see there is an ever growing audience for online video production company, and these people will use any device to consume media. This research also sheds light on viewer preference. Having the knowledge that users are using small screens to watch videos, producers can create content that caters to this audience.
