A new video production survey reveals that more people find mobile videos through friends than search. The Harris Interactive study indicates that around 10% of mobile video viewers would be more likely to watch a video that a friend recommended. This comes in addition to the 67% that “discover” video content from friends vs. 41% through search.
Presumably some of the survey responses discover their videos through both search and social recommendations, hence the mismatched percentages. The results aren’t too surprising. Just look at your Facebook news feed and you’ll see dozens of video recommendations for your “friends.” Now we’d just like to figure out who is searching for all these weird animal friendship videos, and why they were looking for orangutan and dog buddies.
