NBC-owned iVillage is the web’s largest content-driven community for women and has been a huge success for its parent company. It generates more than 4 million videographer Chicago views each month, with plans to expand the video on its site in 2012. Kelly Wallace, the site’s head of video and chief correspondent talked to Daisy Whitney for this week’s New Media Minute, and offered some tips for brands to use online video with their marketing strategy.
- Advertisers are extremely interested in video, but want to make sure the content is engaging consumers, and advertisements might deter some viewers. Basically, people watch videos differently if they feel that it is an ad.
- Create franchises and release them regularly, such as unique content for every day of the week.
- Make sure your video content is connected to your brand. This is the voice and image your are conveying to viewers.
- Start small. Video is more expensive than writing articles or putting together slideshows. Also, do as much shooting as you can in one day to save on the budget.
