Well this could be fun. Toshiba has released the Camileo BW10, a rubber coated camera that can be submerged in up to 6.5 feet of water. The camcorder can record video in 1080p, shoot 5 megapixel stills, and features a 10x digital zoom. Unfortunately, it only has 8mb of internal memory (crazy, I know), but it has an SD card slot that can handle 64gb of memory. It costs $150 and it’s already available online.
Cisco might have terminated its production of FLIP cameras, but the market for portable, HD camcorders isn’t dead yet.
If you ever decide to purchase this video production camera and use it to shoot video underwater, let us know via comments or Twitter. We would love to see some underwater HD footage.
And what do you think? Could a camera like this ever take off? Is there an untapped market for underwater video that Toshiba has finally tapped into, or is this going to go the way of the Flip?
