Things to Remember for Quality Video Production Pt. 4: Clear Directions

In order for a video production to go smoothly, there is certain preparation that should be done on the client’s part to help the video production company. Today we’re talking about giving clear directions as to what you want shot, and a secure space for the video production preparation to take place.

Clear video production directions

If we’re recording an event, we need to know what you want recorded or have one of your representatives direct us. We recently recorded a festival and the planners needed us to record certain people at certain times, follow a parade, record certain booths, etc. This was made much easier by them supplying a director, and everything turned out very well.

A secure space

We need a designated, secure area to stash our gear, offload video cards and otherwise base ourselves. We need this for security of our equipment and to properly prep for the shoot. Knowing where we’ll be offloading our gear ahead of time is also helpful. Speaking of parking, if you have passes or discount parking for us, this reduces your reimbursement expenses.

The bottom line in all of this is that the more we can think through ahead of time, the less we’ll have to deal with during ‘show time’ and the better things will go.
